Victorian Cloak by JenniferWeiler Victorian Cloak by JenniferWeiler
Victorian cloak done in dark blue micro-velvet with over six yards of black French lace that was entirely hand beaded. This cloak has over 50+ hours of solid beading in it. Lining is a cotton/spandex knit and the hood has a drawstring woven into it to ruffle the large, bell hood as desired. Two rhinestone clasps hold it together and there's a collar on the inside of the hood. Small, light blue drop crystals are also sewn sporadically throughout the cloak to resemble stars as it moves so that they "twinkle".

Made this as a gift to my sister for Christmas. It's a very heavy piece with the material and all of the beading and she's pretty petite so I was worried about the weight but she quite likes it so awesome! XD

Detail photos are on my Facebook page. See bottom of description for link.

This piece is NOT for sale.

Thanks for viewing!

This is amazingly beautiful! The color, the lace, and the sporadic crystals. It caught my eye, and I got so excited when I saw it. XD

Aww!! Haha well you're not the only one in that boat unfortunately. XDD

My parents wanted to do this for my sister so they paid for the material. It's the only reason I was able to afford these materials for it haha.

So beautiful! I love cloaks with hoods like that!

Out of curioisty, what is the difference between micro velvet and regular velvet?

Oh I do too! They're so unique and elegant! (:

There's not much other than durability, cost, and quality. Microfibers are generally very long-lasting, easy to clean, and much nicer than their counterparts. This one was about double the price per yard than the other but it feels almost like silk it's so soft. That's probably the biggest difference there; the quality of the fabric. You certainly pay for it but you feel like royalty when you put it on instead of like you picked it up from the costume store haha!

This one is made with seriously expensive materials and has about a month's worth of solid work time in it which would put this one's price tag upwards of $1000. The material cost alone was over $600. A simpler one can certainly be made with a much smaller budget. I work on a very wide price range so it depends on what someone's looking for what the final cost would be. (:
